The briquettes/logs provide an environmentally friendly fuel obtained by pressed waste wood (sawdust, chips and biomass) at high pressures. They prevalently have a cylindrical shape, with diameters varying between 50 and 90 mm, a high density and a calorific power of 4000-4500 kcal/kg. Di Pił has developed and patented a low cost a low cost accessory to produce square briquettes as well.
Briquettes can be burnt in normal domestic fireplaces or stoves as well as industrial boilers or heating plants for the production of electric power from biomass.
In the first case they are usually cut (in fixed 20-30 cm lengths) boxed and distributed to supermarkets; in the second case they are produced in the form of regular cylindrical discs with a length of 20-30 mm (or variable dimensions) and sent directly to the boiler by means of feed screws or collected in industrial sacks. In particular, briquettes are more economic and efficient in industrial use if compared with widely consumed wood pellets.
